New to the SCA or to Blackstone Mountain?
Welcome! This page will help you understand what we do, what to expect at your first event or practice, and how to get involved.
What is the SCA?
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit educational organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts, skills, and traditions of pre-17th century Europe. We do this through events, classes, combat, crafts, and camaraderie.
Your First Event
Our events can include tournaments, feasts, classes, and court. You do not need elaborate clothing (called "garb") to attend your first event. The Chatelaine can help arrange loaner garb and answer questions.
Your First Practice
Fighter, archery, thrown weapons, and arts & sciences practices are relaxed opportunities to meet people and learn. Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and a willingness to ask questions are all you really need to start. Loaner gear is often available.
Questions?
